How do you start potty training puppies?

I'm sorry if this is the wrong group for this but I couldnt find 1 for pets or anything like that.
Anyway I wanna get a dog. My husband doesn't really want 1 because he has never had a pet growing up, and thinks they would need alot of time and attention especially potty training a pup.
I've had a dog growing up but I've never had to potty train her. So how do u start to train a dog? Also if u could give some other advice about getting a dog I'd happy to hear it.

Training a puppy is not easy, and takes time and patience. There will be cleanups, there will be late night trips outside, you will probably get frustrated at some point. If you want to skip the potty training, adopt an older dog from a shelter. There are thousands of dogs in shelters, and the older ones rarely find a home since everyone is looking for puppies.

So your husband is right. It definitely does take a lot of time and attention to raise a puppy. We were taking our pup out every 15 min when he was 6 weeks old. Eventually then it was every 30 min, every time he woke up from a nap, during every play session, after every meal, & before going into the kennel. You can crate train them but they can usually only hold their bladder for the same amount of time as their age, so 3 months is 3 hours in a kennel. You can train them to go potty on command. Take the puppy outside and say “go potty” and then when they actually do pee, say it again, and then reward with a treat. Eventually your pup will learn to go potty on command and always outside. We always skip potty training pads because they do nothing but create the bad habit of peeing in a certain spot. And there is a group called “Fur Babies”

Training our husky was a nightmare. We got her at 7 weeks old and started taking her out frequently. I’m talking right after meals, after naps, after playtime, etc.  It was time consuming and she still had a ton of accidents in the house. I couldn’t count the number of times I sprinted for the front door while carrying my dog that was currently peeing lol. We just took her out at least every two hours (even at night) and anytime it looked like she was looking for a place to potty.
Dogs require a lot of attention. They need potty training, and behavioral training (learning not to jump on guests, and things like that). 
If you get a puppy, make sure they have plenty of chew toys, because if not, then something of yours will most likely be torn to shreds. 
Make sure you have the time to take them for a walk every day or a place they can run to burn off energy. (We either go hiking, or two a lake where dogs can be off leash) 
You can google a bunch of training tips and everything, that will help a lot. 
Training just requires a lot of time, effort, consistency, and patience. 
It’s been almost two years since we got our husky (she will be 2 December 14th) and she is the best. We get compliments all the time on how sweet and well behaved she is. 
It was frustrating at first but I couldn’t imagine not having her. 
She was worth the effort. 
Plus, watching her play with my almost 1year old daughter really warms my heart. They are best friends. Dogs are a big commitment, but they are so loving and you’ll have a best friend that’s always happy to see you lol.

We got our pupper a crate he was in at night and when we were gone for 6 months.  I think the younger they are the more potty breaks.  I think when we first got him 12 weeks he needed a potty every 3 hours.  I found with him positive reinforcement was better.  Praise pupper a lot when they go out as soon as they potty.  So you need to go out with them.  Expect accidents and say no and move them outside anytime they go inside.  Consistency was key.  He’s just now a year.
