Would you ask an ex for closure?

I recently saw on of my ex’s I don’t remember why we broke up we sorta just did like we didn’t even say why we just stopped talking and seeing him made me wonder why if we had such a good relationship & when people ask why we did idk what to say

Part of me wants to ask my ex why he treated me so terrible. I didn't do anything for him to want to mentally abuse me the way he did. He took away my happiness. But I "loved" him so much... I just put up with it. 
The other part of me never wants to see or talk to him again because of how bad the abuse was... I never want to subject myself to that kind of stuff ever again. 
I know I will end up just letting it be, and letting the past stay in the past. I just don't understand.

Get closure for yourself but let him be. Some relationships are just not meant to be and you have to trust that right thing happened and that eventually the right person will come along.

What are the chances he’ll be truthful (instead of blaming you or making excuses)? And what would it change. All I need to know is he doesn’t wanna be with me anymore, whatever justifications he has

You can’t make him talk to you. I bumped into a guy i dated who ghosted me, i was fuming and pinned him up against a wall. All he did was lie, he said his child was ill and he had to fly back home to see them in hospital (I already knew his kids lived about 10miles away in the next city) he lied about not paying his phone bill too (he earns over £70000 so its very highly unlikely he just didn’t have money for a £25 bill) 
Tbh it just showed me how lucky I was that he ghosted me.
