First time mom, getting ready to make my registry, and plan for the nursery. Let's talk bassinets. Do I need a bassinet, or is it just a waste of money?

With my daughter I had the bassinet in my room by my bed until she was 3 months, then she was moved to her crib in her room. It really depends on your living/sleeping arrangements but I’ll definitely be getting another with this baby!

Depends! My son will have his own room (crib). Yet, he will be staying in our room for the first 4 months, (bassinet). He has both a crib and bassinet. If he didn’t have his own room I would personally have gotten a pack and play.

Pack n plays typically have a bassinet portion, so its dual purpose. I love my pack n play and then you can use it when you travel with baby too. When my son goes to anybody's house for babysitting now (he's almost 3 and a half) we bring the pack n play mat in case he needs a nap. Idk what I'll do with 2 kids and 1 pack n play mat.

I'm a first time mom and wanted a bassinet. Every one recommended I just use the pack and play until baby goes to his crib since I plan on getting a pack and play anyway. My dad gifted me a pack and play that has a changer and a sleeper bassinet attachements. Even if I don't use those, I do think it's best to not get a bassinet to save money. Babies will out grow a bassinet really quickly, you will use a pack and play for a while

For us, our daughter had a room with a crib. So we put her straight in there. There are so many translations that first year I wanted to eliminate the biggest one. To me, it’s such a temporary solution it wasn’t worth it. 
We plan to do the same with these babies. Both cribs are up and even though they will be sharing a room they will go straight into the nursery in their cribs when we come home.

I’m sharing room with baby so the crib will be in my room but my friend just bought a pack and play that had a changer and a play for baby to sleep to put in her room. Then once he got older moved him to his crib and used the pack and play for when they would go on vacations. I know a lot of people like bassinets though so it can go both ways

I would say get one but maybe choose something that serves more than one purpose, like a pack n play that comes with a newborn sleeper and changing table? That way you'll be able to use it for a while after too

They outgrow them too fast. We are going the Pack n Play route as well. Lasts so much longer and actually has a use once you aren't using it anymore.
