9 month old fighting sleep like Muhammed Ali, Help!

When my little hit around 8 months she started fighting sleep, but would give in after a bit. Now that she's hit 9 months, she REFUSES to sleep even though she falls asleep sitting up or in her jumper. The moment you try to lay her down she FREAKS out. She's never been a super affectionate baby, very independent but she has started to put her head on my leg or climb to put her head on shoulder so I know she is super tired, but she won't sleep. She wants to crawl, stand, play, etc.

Cry it out so far hasn't worked, and rocking/feeding works sporadically.

Anyone else have any tips or tricks?
