Not what I expected!

Meagan

So my labor did not go in any way how i expected! I woke up at 3am with contractions and knew it was starting since this is my second baby. started timing they progressed from every 10 min to 7-8 to 5-6 so i call my husband whos currently working graveyard at 430 to come home so we can go to the hospital. We make it there by 530am and am still measuring 4.5cm same as my tuesday app.( this was friday) And the contractions have receded to every 7 to 8 min. They keep us for two hrs and release us by 8 because nothing has changed 😑 i cry a lot because i know im in labor and dont want to leave and not make it back in time! I tell a nurse this since we live outside of town and her response is "thats highly unlikely" and then goes on to say she thinks ill make it to my app next tuedsday which made me mad! Its not like i havent done this before! So we leave have breakfast, get a couple last min things from the store and head home so i can shower since i know im in labor (i havent been able to walk or talk through any of the contractions)when i get out of the shower and start timing again its noon and they stay consistently between 3 and 4 min apart over the next hr and just as im thinking we need to head back to the hospital i feel like a rubber band has snapped near my cervix! But nothing happens so i get up to tell my husband its time to go but as i start downstairs there a decent gush of fluid so i start yelling my water broke we need to go! And thing go from bearable to me deciding i definitely wanted to epidural! We get in the car around 130 and call my inlaws to pick my daughter there. At this point the contractions are on top of one another and i have ceased to function. We get to the hospital by 2 and i cant get out of the car so my husband runs in to get a wheelchair and and somehow manages to get me and our 2 yr old up to the maternity ward, after handing me off to the nurse he runs off to deliver our daughter to my inlaws, the nurse is great but at that point i couldnt answer any of her questions and am starting to involuntarily push! I managed to ask for the epidural and the nurse just laughs and says she can gaurentee that wont happen. They check me im at an 8 at this point and my dr is on her way but they have the emergency dr there just in case. Im now having pushes with every contraction and in less than 10min i go from an 8 to a 10 and thats when both my husband and dr manage to make it in! 4 contractions later wren was here! 7lb 10oz and 20 inches! The pushing phase is by far the most primal expirience i have ever had. Usually im quite when in pain but i yelled and screamed till i was hoarse! The most intense expirience ive ever had! Here she is 😍 born at 228pm

somehow i managed to not tear at all. I had an epidural with my first which was a 33hr induction and the recoveries are not comparable. As painful as natural childbirth was i felt good almost immediately! It took me weeks to feel ok with the first. So glad to finally have my baby here!

4 days old and very aware 😄
