Can you be best friends with your child?

I saw a post on Reddit (making fun) of a photo of text (originally from Facebook).

The text says “I may have lost many friends, but I gave birth to my very best forever friend”

I was a little shocked to see how the comments were very aggressively against this, saying it was creepy, pathetic, toxic, narcissistic, unhealthy, and talking about “covert incest” or “emotional incest”.

I don’t get it. I am a mom to be and I want to be friends with my child as well as a parent.

Do you think you can be friends - best friends even - with your child(ren)? Or do you agree it’s creepy/toxic/pathetic/etc?
