Thoughts?

I’m due Jan 8th and of course when I deliver my husband will be with me. But my 17 year old niece asked to also be in there!! 😐 I’m not sure how comfortable I am to let her be. My husband thinks he can speak for me and told her yes 🤦🏽‍♀️ I know once labor gets going I’m not gonna care who’s in there but I still feel like it’s awkward 😂 what would you guys do?

You can tell her no or in the hospital I am delivering at if you don’t want someone in the room the nurse will makeup an excuse as to why they can’t be in there so it seems like it’s not your fault

You don’t want anyone extra Incase you poop yourself lol the less people that see you do that; or spray bodily fluids- including but not limited to vomit, the better 😂

I told my SO that he's lucky HE'LL be in there, lol. If you guys were close, maybe. But there's gonna be a lot of nakedness and biology and raw emotions going on in that room and most people would fare better with less people around.

I completely agree that this is your decision and I would be so pissed if my husband did that. However, I would try to think about maybe allowing her to be around for certain parts of the labor and try imagine if you would be comfortable with that, if you can make a compromise.  I think it's good for teens to realize what childbirth and parenting really entail. I hope that it creates more appreciation for what it takes to bear a child and raise them, and then will make them more responsible in their own lives. But I had my daughter at 19 so maybe that's why I think that way. 
What is her motivation for wanting to be there? Are you close at all?

I thought about letting my 14 year old daughter in, but she works my nerves sometimes, so i can't chance it, lol

I was in the room for my half sister when I was 16 and it was a really great experience for me. I also feel like I have a much closer bond with her than my other sister does. I stood at my stepmoms head so didn’t see anything down below until she came out. I didn’t help hold my stepmoms legs or anything either.
