Piercing affect breastfeeding?

Hi, I had one of my nipples pierced before I got pregnant and took out the ring once I found out I was pregnant to start the healing process. Has anyone been in a similar situation and did it affect your success to breastfeed?

Ok so I own a tattoo studio and I’m a piercer- here’s the thing. You will probably have some leakage if you had your nips pierced for a LONG time as some holes never close. You will have no issues breastfeeding but honestly probably shouldn’t get any new piercings or tattoos until you’re done breastfeeding as there is an extremely small chance of infection - which can be transferred to the baby. (Like 0.0000001% chance, especially if you were to go to a legit shop , but I digress.) Let me know if you have any other questions.

I did and no issues breastfeeding at all.

I had mine in all the way through pregnancy and during labor, took them out to pump and put them back in. Never have had any issues.

I'd like to follow this post. I had both my nips done in October 2017, found out I was pregnant in late June so I took them out about August but they didn't close up until about the end of September. A little curious what others have experienced. Seems like I have kept the nipple sensitivity and its really uncomfortable if my husband decides to play with them.
