A month is 4 1/2 weeks. If these charts are confusing, just go by the calendar. My last period was Sept 4th, so I start a new month on the 4th of every month. I am at the end of my third month and will start my 4th month on Dec 4th.
40 weeks is a little longer than 9 months so your due date will be a little bit after the end of the 9th month on the calendar.

According to the What to Expect book, first trimester is 1-13 weeks. I think it just means that you’re starting your second trimester when you complete the 12th week. Does that make sense?
