How to keep a hat on??

Question

How do you keep a hat on your LOs? Baby is 10 months old and he refuses to keep a beanie on!! It’s getting colder and I’m trying to keep his little head warm since his hair is shaved on the sides. I see tons of pictures of babies wearing hats like it’s no big deal, please share your secrets!

I started with a ball cap that was easy to put on and take off. I know this will do less than a winter cover in keeping warm, but better than nothing, and no struggle to wrestle your little one into it. I made it a habit to put it on my son every time as I walked out the door with him. It was like shoes; something he 'needed'. If he took it off then I'd put it right back on and distract him by chatting and pointing out things around us excitedly. No matter how many times he took it off, I would put it back. Eventually he got used to it, and now only refuses hats that he doesn't like. He loves them. I just viewed hats as a basic requirement until he regularly accepted them. Now I just need to break my own hatred of wearing hats 😆 Good luck if you try to get your little one used to it. If you need a comfortable ball cap, Old Navy ones I've tried have been a hit with my son. Pictured one is his current. He has only had one other before it and it was also Old Navy brand; he just outgrew it.

Our child just likes hats. But it's not something I'd worry about if she doesn't. There are a million and one ways to keep a child warm.

My daughter wont wear hats, always pulling them off, but she will wear the hood on a sweater or jacket.

I couldn't keep one on till decided they were OK when he was 2. He just had a cool head for a while. It was fine.
