Baby waited for our Christmas tree to go up

Me

My baby was due December 10th but our plan was to be induced on December 3rd (39 weeks) due to baby being so big! Despite my best efforts to have a November baby, there were no signs of labor more than irregular contractions when I walked and the general terrible uncomfortable feeling that is the last few weeks of pregnancy. I called out of work on December 1st because I just wasn’t feeling it... (random contractions, back pain, ugh). We got our Christmas tree, cleaned the front part of the house, and took our normal walk. Went to bed at 8, but I couldn’t sleep.

At 10:20pm I was lying in bed when I had a sudden huge gush of fluid. (The kind that is in the movies). I woke my husband up and he said “you sure your water broke” and two seconds later he said “oh yeah it did”. We were at the hospital by 11:30 because I wanted to do dishes and get s few things done, and I wasn’t having painful contractions.

Labor went perfectly, I started having contractions 3-5 minutes apart, not painful, and was 3 cm. They admitted me, and the contractions started getting worse, but were still tolerable. I got the epidural and they checked and I was a 6- I felt every contraction even with the epidural. It was as if I could feel my cervix changing...Right at the very end during transition I started having unbearable back pain. Even with bolus medication I could feel terrible pain. They checked and I was a ten.

The nurse looked at me and said that the only way to get rid of the back pain was to push. So I started pushing at 7:50am on 12/2, baby was sunny side up (hence the back pain). Apparently I am a good pusher and the whole team arrived and 20 minutes later I felt like I had to puke. Right when I puked baby’s head popped out, and the second time the body came out. My husband said “it’s a girl” and my life changed. Team green was definitely the way to go!

Baby Hazel was born at 8:11am weighing 8 pounds 9 ounces, 20.5 inches.
