should i take plan b?

so i had sex with my boyfriend and ive recently been on birth control. i have taken 7 pills so far, but that includes today, but im not sure how long it will take until it can protect me from getting pregnant. and plus, it says on the label to take it everyday at the same time, but sometimes im late by an hour or more. will that have a significant effect? should i take a plan b?
