Ideas for potty training?

So we have a puppy pitbull he’s about 16 weeks

Most nights he can hold his bladder, longest has been about 6 hours. We keep him in his crate at night because he was having too many accidents on the bed/ around the house when he was a puppy.

But whenever he has a bed or a blanket or anything in his crate he pees and shits over night. No matter how many times we walk him... we had to leave him in his cage over night without anything and he had no accidents.. but I hate leaving him in the crate with nothing to lay on 😭😭 why is this happening?! I thought they didn’t like to pee or poop where they eat or sleep... but he legit ROLLS in it. It’s awful. We get up 2-3 times a night to walk him. Midnight - 3am - 6-6:30 am when my SO wakes up for work, and I wake up at 9am to get ready for work and walk him and he usually has his accidents some time in between that..

We have a huge fenced in yard, we let him out and let him do his thing and we always make sure he doesn’t come inside until he does his business. But. He. Still. Keeps. Peeing.

Small amounts, big amounts. He’ll literally go outside pee, come back inside 20 minutes later and pop a squat 😭😭
