Names too similar?

My sister in law is about to have her baby boy and they named him Hayden. My husband and I are due in May with a baby boy as well, and we love the name Aiden. Aiden James, so A.J as his nickname. Would you be upset if a family member had a similar sounding name for their baby?

To me they sound the same, they are just spelled differently. At the end of the day tho you can name your baby how you want.
I would be a tad upset that out of all names available my soster in law picks one that sounds exactly the same as my child because they won’t just be aquaintance they are cousins and will most likely be alot together.. but that’s just me.  Every family is different.

You’re allowed to name your baby whatever you want. Those names are only a little similar, but not enough to warrant getting mad about! Name your baby Aiden. Sis will be fine!

Our sons name is Easten and our nephews name is Austin. I don’t see the problem unless they are together. Then we mix them up a little. But honestly I do that with all of them. I think you picked a cute name.

We have a Hayden,  Jayden and an Aidan in my family. All are cousins. It's not upsetting at all. We're gonna have a blast at family reunions. Say one name and they all come running! 😂😂

I think they're too close. It's the same name without the H. Of all names in the world to choose, I think it would be weird. I named my son Shai and my SIL named her son Shia. She thinks they're very different because his name is 3 syllables, mine is 2. But I get comments all the time behind her back "couldn't she have chosen a different name?" and now they're 4 and 3 and if someone calls one of the boys, they both respond because they get confused. If you like AJ I'd pick a different A name, maybe Adam, Aaron, Ashton, etc
