Did you like your receptionist job?

Thinking about becoming a receptionist. Anyone here ever do that? If so  was it easy, stressful, worth the pay? Would you reccomend it?

I'm a receptionist at a veterinary clinic. It's a pretty easy, repetiative job. Almost no physical labor. It is a lot of paperwork. The worst part of the job is dealing with unhappy people. Sometimes people are just having a bad day and decide to take it out on you. Or, if there is a misunderstanding about policy/pricing they can get quite angry. Sometimes it's difficult to hold your tongue, keep that smile and customer service face, and be professional when someone is unleashing their full fury on you. It's especially touchy in the vet clinic because there are peoples pets involved (which comes with a LOT of emotional investment on their part).

Yes. I was a receptionist at a counseling and therapy office. I loved it. Most days were chill, and most people were nice.

I absolutely hated it.  That being said, I have social anxiety (I worked as a receptionist for a while because it was the only job I could find at that moment) and dealing with people puts my anxiety level through the roof, especially with answering phones.  
I now work as a file clerk, don't deal with any customers, don't answer any phones and I'm as happy as a clam.

I did it at two HUGE offices for three years and man. That was the most stressful job. We saw over 100 patients in an 8 hour day and I was normally the only one working. It didn’t help our system to check in patients sucked! So not user friendly. I now work side by side with my manager at a small business in an office just answering phones, the downfall is time DRAGS. at least when I worked for the doctors offices, time went by fast.

I love it.  One office was extremely stressful to the point that I had to go on stress leave.  The office I’m in now is phenomenal and acknowledges that I have a brain full of good ideas that can make the office better and more efficient
