Is this cheating?

I caught My boyfriend for over year and living with lying to meet up with “just a friend” to talk about his personal feelings. Instead of meeting up with his known buddy he instead was meeting with a female who I had no knowledge of. Several times he’s done this. I’m hurt and confused when I told him I had to meet this woman to confirm they’re friend status. He said he didn’t know if she wanted to meet me and probably wouldn’t. He also said he didn’t tell me because he knew I’d be insecure and jealous.
