Unexpected period after 1 year on IUD??

I got the Mirena inserted maybe a year or so ago and after a few months of having it I stopped getting my period. I got my period again the other day after sex with my husband and I check my strings often and can still feel it. Does anyone know why I all of a sudden got my period again or if this has happened to anyone else?

I don’t think there’s any specific length to not get your period. But if you are concerned definitely bring it up to your ob

Having an iud doesn’t actually cause you to lose the period. It’s considered a side effect for that to happen. As long as you are not bleeding heavily to the point of soaking a pad in 30 minutes you should be fine

I'm having the same problem right now and i got my IUD last sept and 2 days ago i got my period but it only lasted a day i called my ob and he said it common for that to happen
