Bleeding at 8/9 weeks

I have posted this elsewhere but I’m desperate for advice

Last night (15th) at 11pm, I was at a friends house having a small gathering with friends. I felt a weird twinge in my pelvic region, then one single cramp that felt period-like. I knew something wasn’t right so I went to the toilet. I peed, when I wiped there was some discharge, and in that was brown, older looking blood. Not a significant amount, but enough that my stomach just dropped.

I went to the hospital with my partner (I’m high-risk for complications) and waited 9 hours till I saw a doctor. Throughout this time, I wasn’t exactly ‘bleeding’, more like light spotting. I didn’t need to wear a pad at all in this time, it was only present when I would wipe after using the toilet. The blood eventually looking bright pink, but by that stage it was barely even visible anymore.

The doctor eventually came in and just said I’m likely having a miscarriage and they’ll have an outpatient appointment in a few days to check. (I should mention I hadn’t had any tests done by this point besides a blood test to check my HCG).

All throughout my pregnancy my HCG levels have been on the lower side, last night they were measured at 9000. I should be around 8-9 weeks along. At 7 weeks I had a perfect ultrasound, the heart rate was perfect.

Is there a chance everything is fine? I’m just so, so scared. Having a baby wasn’t in my or my partner’s plans for a few more years, and we finally became so comfortable and excited about this pregnancy. And I know if I lose this one, trying wouldn’t be in our plans for a long time and it’s just heartbreaking.
