Stand up for our rights or not? This title sounds lame but it’s the best I could come up with 😂

Ok so my topic is stemming from this post, I didn’t post the whole thing because it’s super long but I guess if you have fb you could look it up but if not here’s a summary 👉🏼👉🏼👉🏼 so this man is a professor at a university, on his break he went to grab lunch. On his way there he got profiled and stopped by several officers claiming he matched the exact description of a robbery right down to his knitted hat 🤔 well the knitted hat was a handmade gift with a variety of colors so it couldn’t have been someone else with the same knitted cap. Well they had him stopped, questioned, called in a bunch of backup and he complied with everything. They ended up letting him go but left the poor man feeling broken, violated, and shaken up.

So whenever there’s any case of police brutality the number one thing always said is “just do as they say. Just comply. Follow the order of authorizes no matter what.” But I just can’t help to think that mindset is allowing them to run all over citizen rights. Yes we need to follow the law and respect t officers and comply with reasonable requests from them, but there’s way too many cases of them abusing their power (especially to minorities) and we’re supposed to be fine with that? I feel like I’m just rambling on but I guess my point is where exactly do we draw the line to complying reasonably or allowing our rights to be violated? Should we start standing up for our right more even tho it may mean being shot, beat up, or wrongfully attested? Or for the sake of avoiding all that do we put our heads down and obey blindly?
