Born at 37+3 Emergency Cesarean and a Miracle

Miss Gwyndolyn Rae decided to make an early appearance at 37+3 and all we can say is thank God for the medical miracles we have access to.

We had had a long day. My husband's grandfather had passed away in his sleep and had spent the day with family processing. After spending the evening feeling nauseated we decided to go get some fluids at the hospital. Instead we had an OB telling us baby was coming as both of us were in distress with no sign of improving in addition to her being footling breech. When we got to the OR we found only 20% of my placenta was still atrached and there was blood in the amniotic fluid. Thankfully Gwyndolyn Rae was born Dec 23 at 3:05 am 6 lbs 12 oz.

The next night I was back in the OR because my top layer of stitches started to come undone and it looked like there may be internal bleeding. Thankfully it was just the top layer of stitches so they were able to clean and patch me back up.

My husband said he will never forget how grey I was on that operating table as I was shivering uncontrollably saying "I'm cold." The OB made a point of coming to see us after and say, "Thank God you came when you did. Another hour and one of or both of you wouldn't have made it out of that room. You are all so very lucky." I will never forget how pale my husband looked holding our newborn as I got wheeled back to the OR

Today my husband made a point of pausing to say, "This has been weighing on me all week. But I was really scared I was going to lose you. I am so glad we have our family." The whole family is convinced that Papa had a role to play in keeping us all safe.
