Why is my face still like this

I don’t know what I’m doing wrong or what to do to fix it. After I put my foundation on my face looks patchy, like dry skin patchy. I start with a small amount then I put another layer on and it like gets worse. I cleanse my face and moisturizer before I do my makeup and wait about a half hour. I use smashbox moisturizing primer which I let sit for about 20 minutes before I apply foundation. I’m trying to find the right foundation I’ve recently used Mac studio fix and bare minerals pro. I always cleans, exfoliate, and moisturizer every night. Why is my makeup still looking patchy?

Don’t exfoliate every night... only once or twice a week. Two... make sure your primer and foundation is compatible. If one is water based and the other is silicone (which your primer is) then you have a problem.. and third, it could just be that your foundation is too dry and you need to find a new one. I love MakeUp Forever and Lancôme.

i wouldn’t recommend exfoliating every night that could be drying you out. maybe try drinking more water or not letting the moisturizer and primer sit for as long goodluck :)

Going down to the skin level, find a moisturizing gel cream for your faces, like the water cream from tatcha, or the belief one, use a light cleanser and exfoliate about one or twice a week. Good foundation comes from good healthy skin! There’s plenty of serums and toners that help too!

I get patchy dry skin sometimes and the only thing I can find that works for me is using heavy e45 cream as a moisturiser. Sounds insane but I swear by it. Put a light layer on before foundation. Maybe try using a different foundation? Also if the patches of dry skin are red it could be an allergic reaction, I get those quite often and it takes ages to go down! Bio oil on the dry patches before bed also works a treat 💕

If you like more full coverage I’d recommend the cover fx natural finish oil free foundation. It’s made for dry skin. Also don’t exfoliate every day. I know it seems like you have to but it’s actually making your dry skin worse. 2-3 times a week is good enough. Also how are you applying? I’ve found that if I use a brush you can see every bit of dry skin on my face. I’ve always used the real techniques sponge and always still had some grabbing. Recently I went out on a limb and tried to Sonia Kashuk sponge and I haven’t had any grabbing whatsoever. I told my friend who also has extremely dry skin to try it and she said it was better than her beauty blender. So a few things to try there. Hope this helps!

Use a hydrating foundation mac studio fix is aweful for dry skin ive never tries the other one but if its matte probably not gonna be great for your skin type
