A good family bonding idea

I have decided that I wanted to do something nice to have both sides of the girls in our family bond over baby. Instead of asking for the art for the nursery, my plan is to take photos of them trace those onto canvas by way of a projector and then mix the paints and each of us will get a picture to paint and s pic of what it looks like and the colors to be used, then everyone will have been involved in something for her nursery. Does this sound like a good idea??
