Do you know the real Herpes? Does it affect...
Did you guess right? The answer is more than 90% of people have...
Herpes. Be careful, it’s so taboo you might catch it just saying the name. Whisper it carefully so no one knows and maybe you won’t be shunned by the public eye.
But why are we so afraid of it? Herpes is considered more taboo than any other STI/STD except HIV/AIDS, even more so than gonorrhea and syphilis. Which doesn’t make sense when you consider the fact that over 90% of the global population has it. That’s right, more than 90% of people have it and many don’t even know they are infected! Plenty don’t even show symptoms.
Herpes isn’t some scary virus that will ruin your life. It’s normal to have it. A breakout might result in a small rash of red bumps and maybe a small blister or cyst type sore, but it is rarely more than that. Let’s stop the spread of fear mongering. No more shame over such a common thing. We aren’t afraid to say if we had chicken pox or cold sores, so why are we so afraid of herpes? FYI, chicken is caused by a strain of the herpes virus. Cold sores are caused by herpes. It’s in you.
Stop the silence; stop the shame. It doesn’t help anyone.
