How did you know they were "the one"?

Hello! I've been with my boyfriend for 3 years now. Over the years we've both grown and learned. I feel like he might be the person I want to marry. We've talked about it and kids. We actually talk about our future a lot. We're both still struggling financially and I'm going to school for at least another 4 years. 
How did you know that your partner was the one?

I always called him my security blanket, I have awful anxiety and somehow felt better, stronger when I was with him. We’d been together for about 2.5 months when he went on a 2 week vacation with his family, I cried every single day he was gone. It physically hurt not being with him. I knew then it was forever and ever. We haven’t been apart more than 2/3 days since, it’s been 8+ years. I couldn’t picture my future without him no matter what that held.

He makes me feel loved and appreciated in every way. I’ve dated other guys who took advantage of me, used me, and would blame little things on me and would escalate into huge arguments. In the nearly two years that my boyfriend and I have been together, we’ve never had an argument. We communicate about things that bother us, and we work out the few disagreements we’ve had. Honestly I don’t think i have ever gotten mad at him. We work so well as a team together, we spent this last summer fixing up a house his parents own and are letting us live in. He is a hard worker and has dreams and goals for the future, which is important to me. He tries things I like and I try things he likes. We have respect and understanding for one another. We are goofy with each other and are always laughing together. I don’t really believe in soulmates, but he is my person ❤️ in previous relationships, after only a few weeks or months I would start getting anxious and panicky, realizing that I don’t want to spend my life with this person. I knew Jackson was the one when I never got that feeling 🥰

He even rode a horse for the first time in his life because I love horses and have been riding for 9 years 😭❤️ he is my everything

Recently married my hubby 4 months ago. Been together 8 years. My career delayed the wedding far longer then I should have let it but I knew he was the one when he didn’t walk away from me when any other man would have. He loved me when I didn’t even love myself. He told me to go follow my dreams if had to but he never stopped answering my calls or supporting my dreams. He became my best friend while I was 2,000 miles away chasing and living my dreams. Then one day he said Come home where you belong! And I realized I wanted too. My dream job didn’t compares to the joy I felt at having a life and family with him.  So I quit my job, sold everything that wouldn’t fit in my truck and U-Haul, drove 2,000 miles back home and a year and half later I don’t regret it.  And believe me when I say no one in my life ever thought I’d give up my dream job for any man. But he’s not just any man.... No one but you can answer if he’s the one for you. But I hope he is. I hope you’ve found your once in a life time one great love. Because that kinda love is worth everything!

I'm 39 and my husband and I approaching our 8th wedding anniversary. Been together for 10 years. So I didn't get married until my 30s. What set him apart from everyone else I dated was a couple of things. I learned to trust someone's actions, not just their words. Promises are easy to make, and it's easy to be a great guy when everything is sunshine and rainbows. How is he during the dark times?  Does he do the right thing when no one is looking?  How does he behave during and after a fight? Does he tend to blame others? One's true character comes out during hardship. The other thing is that we had the same values and standpoint on things in life....what we wanted, spiritual beliefs, opinions on drinking and gambling and drugs etc. You don't have to be exactly alike, but having similar beliefs on major things in life is important. And finally, when I was around him, it was just comfortable. We didn't have a whirlwind romance stage, he was like my best friend from the start.

I dated a guy for 9 years and there were so many things I just overlooked. I was convinced he was my soul mate. But he was a closet alcoholic and would get sober for a little while and then fall off the wagon. He was a great guy but we didn't have the same views on being around family or even having a family. He would also promise the world with no action to back it up. We got engaged and the entire engagement I was actually mad when people would ask me about it. Bad sign and we broke up.
Fast forward to now, 2 years later and I am engaged to a guy that is amazing. He wants the same family I do, spends just as much time with his family as I do and he genuinely bends over backwards to try and make me happy. I am thrilled to be back with him (we were high school sweethearts and reconnected 9ish years later). I'm excited about getting married and he isn't just talk. He is great at communicating what he needs and I feel like I can be honest and he is willing to work to make it better. It isn't all rainbows and sunshine but I can be myself around him.
