This is CRAZY! How did this happen?!
Yesterday I took a pregnancy test for no other reason than not wanting to call my doctor and have them say, “well did you take a pregnancy test?”
I was on my 3rd cycle of Femara, during the middle of my predicted fertile week when I had to go to the ER for, what I thought, was a bad UTI that had gotten into my kidney. Turns out I had 2 very large kidney stones in my right ureter, which were blocking the kidney from draining, causing excruciating pain. I had my first minor surgery the next day to place a stent.
I was absolutely devastated, not because I had to have those stones, and three others surgically removed, but because one of my coveted 6 allowed cycles of femara was wasted. The first thing I asked the doctor is when I could start trying again.
My second, more involved surgery, was 5 days before Christmas. I was laid up for a few days while I healed and I had a new stent placed in the other kidney. It was painful and uncomfortable. I didn’t feel well until Christmas Day when the pain of removing my own stent subsided and I didn’t have anymore kidney pain.
I was expected to start my period, according to this app, a couple days after Christmas. My period never came, but I never questioned it because they had me on pain meds and antibiotics after the surgery. Now, it’s January 7th and I feel completely discouraged because I feel like I’m back at square one. I decided I was going to call my doctor and ask why I wasn’t getting my period. pregnancy never crossed my mind, since they tested me before each surgery and both came back negative.
To avoid calling the “nurse line,” waiting up to 24hours for a callback only to be told “did you take a pregnancy test,” I decided to take a cheap test that came with my ovulation strips. For the first time in a year and a half, and countless pregnancy tests before, this one came back positive. I immediately started crying, pacing and repeating “I can’t be pregnant.” I took two more tests after that, that also came back positive.
It turns out I ovulated way sooner than I ever thought. I wasn’t doing ovulation strips that soon because I trusted what this app predicted. I got pregnant and I guess it didn’t implant until after my second surgery, when the test was negative. I feel like I still can’t figure out how this happened or what the odds were of that happening. But I guess what they say about getting pregnant “as soon as you stop trying.”
Never give up ladies!
