Is a doctor visit worth it?

My 19 month old has had a cold since last week, he's getting a little better but has a terrible cough now. Just trying to get all the crud out. Do you think it would be something worthy to see his pediatrician? I know it's nothing major because I also have the same thing lol. But I just feel bad because there isnt much you can give him. I don't even think the doctor would be able to do anything other than tell me what I already know.
