Second baby, would it be rude to say "gifts aren't necessary but if you're feeling generous we would love various sizes of diapers" on the baby shower invite?

We are having our second child in March and we have SO MANY clothes from hand-me-downs already and we also have plenty of toys we kept from our first born. Would it be rude to ask for diapers instead of all the other crap or should I have mostly diapers along with a few non-diaper related things on our registry for people to choose from?

Ya you can do a baby diaper raffle or something fun like that. I dont see anything wrong with a shower for each baby esp when it's a gender you havent had yet. I think the old one shower thing and any more being taboo is stupid. Every baby should be celebrated.

We already have a 1 1/2 year old girl so we are pretty much set on basic baby things. Baby #2 is a boy and i bought a lot of hand me downs from Facebook. So same situation like you on how to ask for other things other than clothes we put this on the invitations at the bottom
 "Big sister Sam has plenty to share, so its just a little sprinkle to show we care! Not much is needed, the basics will do, like diapers or wipes or an outfit or two!"

At our gender reveal, we specifically said no gifts, please bring a box of diapers instead and even included the brand we like. It was a small gathering, totally worthwhile. You can make a raffle of it and hand out a giftcard if you want to make a game of it.

My sister just had a boy and I’m having a boy. They will be 6 months apart so I’m getting all of her stuff. She is a hoarder and buys a shit ton of useless things for her baby that I’ll end up getting for my son 😂 (as long as it’s in good condition which she is pretty good at making sure her things are clean)

You could do a diaper raffle! That would encourage people to bring diapers without having to ask for them so directly on the invite. You can get little tickets to send with your invites that people put their names on to enter the raffle with their bag of diapers (my mom ordered them with our invites) and then have a couple of prizes for the winners.
That with a “no gifts necessary” line on the invite should accomplish what you’re looking for.
