Any tips on puppy training? (Chewing, potty training)

Fiancé and I adopted a full grown cat awhile ago, we have a 3 year old and, and this year or next year we want to adopt a puppy. We want to get a puppy as we think an older dog wouldn’t mesh well with our 5 year old cat. I know that puppies chew EVERYTHING and have accidents, any tips on raising a puppy? I’m a SAHM so I’ll have plenty of time to create a routine. Thanks in advance!

She's wrong. Puppy pads are awesome if your patient and know what you're doing. 
I have a lab/retriever. 
We used puppy pads because I worked. It was perfect. If youre at home you may not need them. My dog had no problems learning that outside is where she goes. But if she can't make it to outside, then the puppy pads are also acceptable.
We limited her to the kitchen and bathroom with a baby gate only while I was not home. I had puppy pads in the bathroom set up to cover the ENTIRE bathroom floor. She had an accident in the kitchen and I told her "no no. You go potty on the pads" - I would use a clean pad to clean it up. Then lay it back down in the bathroom and say "on the pads" (then you can throw the used pad away)
But that teaches your dog that that's where it goes. Once your dog learns the bathroom pad is where she can go, then start making the area smaller. Don't let it take up the whole floor anymore. Take a few of the pads away. When your dog misses again do the same thing. "no, no! You go potty on the pads!" once she's used to that smaller area, then you can make it smaller yet. My dog walks when she poops. 🤦 So I never got her smaller than 4 pads.
Now during the pad training, figure out the times you want to make a habit of. Now that my dogs older she only goes out (specifically to 'go' anyway) twice a day. Right away in the morning, and before we go to bed. So we made those 2 times routine. And then just kind of randomly let her out in between every 2-4 hours while I was home. She learned those times very well. I also use the command "potty outside" EVERY TIME. Pick your command words and reuse them. Its become very handy. She doesn't wander around wondering what she's supposed to do. Also, if we're going on a trip and I know we'll be in the car a while I tell her "potty outside" before we load the car and she goes, if she has to.
Once she was about 4/5 months old, she had full range of the house. She got into a few things when I was at work. But we'd either punish her or relocate what she was getting into. She also has a lot of treats and different textured toys. So the chewing things was never a huge issue for us. 
There's a spray you can use for potty training. It's in a yellow container at Walmart. Called "go here" or something like that. It does exactly what you would expect. Its a smell that encourages them to go to the bathroom where it's sprayed. I used it for a couple months and would just spray a bit on the pads. I used it from the start so I honestly can't tell you if it helped or not.
 Don't get mad at your dog. But a tap(and I mean Tap... Like your pointing to a word on a blackboard.) on their nose and saying "no" is all a dog needs. They understand they've messed up.
My dog understood " go potty outside" and "potty on the pads" in the first week I had her. The rest was just accidents, aiming, and the size of her bladder.
I'd also suggest having food out always. If you set feeding times, you set yourself up for obligations. You HAVE to be there to feed her at those times. - I have food out always and my dog has taught herself how much she needs. She regulates her own food. And if I have to stay away for a day, I can still put out pads and food and water and know she's OK for the day.

What I did is use puppy pads, once they learn to pee on the pad. Start moving it closer to outside. Eventually the pad will be outside and they realize they go outside.  Worked for both my dogs.

I dont have much advice on chewing,except for pig skin chews,ones that they can chew on for a few days at a time..i went threw a couple couches,and numerous shoes,and carpets,even a mattress before i got those,now i make sure they have 3 laying around at all times and no problems or any destructiveness as long as they have those to chew on..(they lost interest within a day in any of the other 100 toys or chews ive bought).
I wouldnt use puppy pads either,once your pup gets older it will start going on any rugs or mats in the house just out of habit.
Kennel training in your best option to get a routine going,most dogs dont go where they sleep,i got a X Large kennel for my small pug so i didnt have to feel bad about keeping her in there and it got her on a perfect routine of only going twice a day,before she goes to sleep and into the kennel and when i wake up in the morning.
After a while i was able to have her in my room and have that as her "kennel"..but anytime shes out of my room at night/and not in her kennel,there will garenteed be a accident.
My australian shepard,i didnt use a kennel for her,just did the keep her in my room method and it helped.

I would recommend going to a shelter and bringing your cat with. The volunteers will likely help you to find a dog who gets along with your cat. Then you don’t have to worry about potty training or the animals not getting along:)

Do NOT use puppy pads in your house... people think they are such a great idea but in reality you are teaching your dog it’s ok to go potty in that certain spot. And like you said, do a routine... depending on type of dog is based off feeding, but just about every half hour or as soon as puppy wakes up take it out. NEVER a pet land or pet store puppy, look into a shelter, and do not spend a ton of money on your puppy only to skip out on the vet and vet given vaccine... parvo is deadly to your puppy
