Obese?!

Question

So yesterday I went to my doctors appointment and never would have thought my doctor would said I'm at risk for obesity?! Which is really discouraging, I know I'm not super big. I eat healthy, my doctor said that I shouldn't want to gain anymore than 15lbs throughout my pregnancy (I'm 8 weeks) my height is 5'7, weight 190lbs 
Should I be concerned about my risk?

Your doctor is probably saying that because your BMI is 29.75 and an “obese” BMI is considered anything over 30. But BMI doesn’t take into account muscle mass so it can be highly inaccurate. Just keep eating healthy and staying active and I’m sure you’ll be fine!

I am 5'7 as well and started my pregnancy at 185-190 lbs and now at about 38 weeks Im at 215. My doctor has told me I have gained a healthy amount 🤷‍♀️ (picture shows 7.5 weeks vs 37.5 weeks)

I too am considered “obese” based on my BMI, height and weight. It’s kind of annoying and I can only gain a max of 30 lbs with my pregnancy. I’m more muscle then anything... I feel you girl and you look great! As long as your eating healthy and being conscious of eating habits and can workout hear and there I think you be just fine 🤗

No ... just be mindful 🥰... I had the same situation and I ended up gaining exactly the recommended amount. Stay hydrated and do your best to get 80g of protein every day.

This shit drives me crazy. I'm 5'7" and was over 200lbs at the end of my last pregnancy. Hours after I gave birth, my weight was in the 160 area. All my weight I was carrying was my 9lbs, 6.5oz baby and water weight. If I had "only gained __lbs", my baby probably would have been malnourished. 
Babies aren't made of fat, omggg!!! Babies come in all sizes from all different sized moms! What are these doctors smoking?!

I’m 5’7 and was 220 at my first ob appointment. They told me try to stay under 25lbs but what really matters is exercise and a healthy diet.

Same here. Started pregnancy at 185. I’m 5’7” as well. Dr told me not to gain more than 15 lbs. now at 20 weeks I am 197 lbs. I admit I don’t exercise. My sciatic pain stops me. It shouldnt but it does. 
I am very mindful what I eat. I stick to fruits and vegetables. Plain yogurt. Reduction in breads etc. I don’t indulge in sweets. I really don’t crave them. Right before I got pregnant I did a juicing detox. Which shut off the sugar craving. Drink a lot of water daily. 
I know I will gain more than 15 lbs but I’m not going to do it on purpose.

mine told me that i’m on the heavy side starting out at 155lbs.. you are taller than me so i wouldn’t say so

The weight (not pregnant) they want me at 5’6” is 139 lbs... I’m definitely not that, and my bone structure is more broad (my shoulders hate anything smaller than xl or super stretchy)... and I’d look sick at that weight.
I’ve been hanging out around 225 for the last several years. Baby (9 weeks) has added 3 lbs last time I checked. I haven’t been to my first appointment yet, but I’m sure they won’t want me to gain ANY weight.
As long as I’m eating healthy, walking regularly, and baby is healthy, I’m going to call it a success.
