1 year old birthday party?! - please read!

My baby is turning 1 next month 🥳
Did y’all have a combined family birthday party with all grandparents & aunts/uncles ect meet for one party or did you do two separate parties?
I was planning on one birthday party where we live (which is my in-laws house currently) and asked my parents who live 1 hour away and my sister 2.5 hours away to drive up for his party. My hubby has one sibling in town and two others about 2.5 hours away. 
I don’t expect everyone to be able to make it as it is winter and we always get tons of snow.
My mother was hoping to have a small gathering at her house. Which would mean two separate family parties.
Do most have two parties or one combined? I personally would prefer one combined, but will feel bad hurting my parents feelings about it as they always look forward to have us at their house.

It’s your baby and your family, not your parents. I would want to do it in my town. Mom can arrange something else another time.

I’ve always had one party where we invite all family and friends. My husbands family mostly lives in the same town as us. My family lives 1-2 hours away and some come and some don’t. The biggest thing is if you don’t want to have multiple parties, you can’t cave and cater to the ones who don’t want to come. If you cave this year, they will expect it every year. Good luck!!
