Having a grown up boyfriend

So my boyfriend is a very future oriented person. His focus is on building ourselves with is great but I'm a very now minded person. I care about doing fun stuff and buying sweet things for each other. He doesn't want to buy me roses or whatever cause he thinks it's a waste of money, but I told him that's not how I feel about it but he is just focused on our future. He says he's not a fun person, he just wants to make money so we can have a great future for us and our future children. Butttttttt I still like the cute shit. Is this a deal breaker? He is much more mature and grown up than me. Anybody else been through a similar situation?
