Having membranes sweeped?

Has anyone had any luck with this? Is this dangerous? Does it cause any problems?

With my first son, I was 3cm dilated and I had them sweeped. Doctor told me to walk walk walk so that's what I did- had my son 12 hours later!

I had it done this last Thursday morning - I was dilated to 3+ and pretty fully effaced.
I lost my plug Friday morning and have basically just felt miserable with consistent contractions, a bulging vagina (water bag/baby is very low), but no labor.  Currently 39+5 so ANY TIME, baby!!

I'm 38w3d with my sixth. I had it done on Friday for the first time this pregnancy and nothing :/ I had it done twice with each on my last pregnancy and nothing for them either. I was induced with all my last pregnancy with post dates so my doctor is expecting the same thing this time :(

No luck yet, I was checked at 39 weeks and not dilated enough. There has to be enough room to get a finger inside the cervix.
