Where does the “trophy culture” begin

This was actually driven by a post a few days ago, I think #eyeroll was the only other person active on it that is also frequent in CC.

At what point do you think the “trophy culture” begins? For those who aren’t familiar with the term, its in reference to kids getting trophies / awards no matter what.

Where is it starting, and when should it stop?

Are there things that should always be applauded, when others should be based on performance?

How would you explain the difference to a child?
