Expecting and missing a parent that died too young?

Anyone else going through this process and missing a parent? My Dad died from cancer about 6 and a half years ago. I was 24 and I’m grateful I got that long with him, but he still missed so much. This would have been his first grandchild and I’m always wondering what it would be like to see him hold her. Sorry if this is too depressing, it’s just one of those days.

First, I don’t care what anyone says, don’t apologize for grieving! I am having an extremely hard time. I want my mom so bad it physically hurts sometimes. My heart is broken that she won’t be here for the birth of this baby and that he won’t grow up knowing her. My mom was the most amazing person and I honestly don’t think I saw anything make her happier than being a grandma. It’s been just over 4 years for me, I was 26. I feel selfish sometimes because I wasn’t a child, but she was my best friend. I was supposed to have at least another 20 years with her.

I understand fully. I lost my dad almost a year ago,very unexpectedly. The thing he wanted most was to be a grandpa. It is hard to stay positive all the time when u wish they were here with you.

My father in law died last Wednesday. I am so sad he won’t be here to meet the baby. I feel so bad for my husband. I don’t know if you are religious. I’m not too spiritual, but do believe family members are with us and watch over us. Maybe he’s watching from heaven.

My mom passed away 10 years ago this year on 2/24. It’s very hard for me till this day as she was my best friend. I was 30, not married, no kids. I’m now married and expecting my 1st. Our daughter’s due date is 4/11 exactly one week from my moms birthday 4/4. That brings me some comfort but her not being here for these major milestones in my life are so emotional for me. 😢
Grieving will continue. It’s carrying those memories and sharing them with your little one. I’ll tell her all about her awesome Grandmom and the Mother/Daughter bond we had. Praying you find comfort during this time. 🙏🏼

I absolutely relate to this. My dad passed away from a heart attack about 5 1/2 years ago. Completely unexpected, and upended our lives. I am 27, but that doesn't make it any easier. Part of me is almost dreading having this baby because he isn't here to experience it with me. You grieve however you need to. Just remember that he is here, and will watch over your little one, no matter what. I'm so sorry for your loss ❤

I’m really struggling at the moment, my Dad passed away almost 5 weeks ago, it was really unexpected even though he had been in hospital along time he had been making progress. We were really close and I’ve always been a massive Daddy’s girl and just miss him so much, every time the baby kicks now it’s double edged as it reminds me I need to be strong for this little one but saddens me more as my son would be my Dads first grandchild and the fact he won’t get to meet him breaks my heart 😢

My dad died when my son was 6 months old. I’m so glad he got to meet him because he was his pride and joy. But I’m sad he will never meet this baby. I still get the urge to call him and tell him about what my son did or said today. It’s hard when you want to share such a big life event with someone and they aren’t here. But I like to believe he is in heaven and got to meet this girl before she even got to me.

I lost my dad when I was 15, I'm almost 21 and it still haunts me. He didn't see me graduate, he couldn't walk me down the isle at my wedding, he didn't get to meet his granddaughter and many mom. I feel you, it's hard and doesn't seem to get better.

I totally feel this, I’m 30 I lost my mom when I was 12 to cancer and lost my dad at 22 suddenly in a car crash. I’m terrified to do this without parents. And if you can believe it my husband who is 8 years older than me has also lost both of his Parents mom to a stroke dad to a heart attack only 2 years ago. It’s so unfair our child will grow up with no grandparents and I’ve especially had a hard time with it also the last few days. :(
