Do u believe in stereotypes?

Question

I personally feel there is some truth to them, but I don't think it's right to judge a person solely on whatever stereotype they fit into. 
But what do u guys think?

I definitely believe in stereotypes. If you look around, people easily fall into them. We just don’t want to see it because it has a racist connotation now, but I don’t believe it is necessarily racist unless someone makes it that way.

As a sociology student I wrote a whole paper on this. The problem isn’t that stereotypes are incorrect it’s that they’re incomplete. And then there is also the generation of stereotypes

I think they're real to an extent, but not for the reasons we think. For example, the stereotype that Asians are smarter than other people. There IS some data to support higher achievement scores in children, but it's not simply because they're Asian-it's because thst culture places much more emphasis on the importance of education than some other countries (among other reasons). So in a way, some stereotypes have some validity but not how we think they do.

I think you are spot ok. Some are true, some are not. They are not created out of thin air but out of real experience, unjustified and ill formed experience maybe. But no one grumbles at positive stereotypes. Or stereotypes to aid an agenda.

I mean I try my best to not let stereotypes make judgements for me. But I do believe stereotypes have some if even a little bit of truth in them. But they are NEVER the full story. Think of it as they are taken out of context of the big picture.

If you go to a trailer park there will be some people who fit the "trailer trash" stereotype and some people who don't. If you go to a rural area some people will be a stereotypical redneck and some won't. So basically yeah some people do fit a into whatever stereotype for whatever race, class, or region and some won't. I don't look at a person and automatically think this person is whatever stereotype (not unless they are wearing a confederate flag or something pertaining to a stereotype) I think that's something that you'll know only if you get to know them as an individual.
