Bleach alternative?
I'm going to be a first time mom and prior to my pregnancy I started making my own laundry detergent out of baking soda, super washing soda, borax, and Fels Naptha in the interest of using less ingredients (less "chemicals", although that's misleading because everything is a chemical), being frugal, and I have sensitive skin. My skin breaks out when I use scented soap. I've been happy with it for a year except my white clothes are becoming dingy, socks look soiled and some stains like makeup do not get removed without soaking. How can I get these white again with few ingredients or a natural, safe method that I can continue using when baby comes? I would prefer not to use bleach and we have super hard water. I use wool dryer balls with a couple drops of lavender essential oil.
