If your parents had asked You to start paying rent now that your career was established, should you be respected as a tenant & follow legal rules or go under the rules they set as a parent?

Scenario

:(I’m not putting my personal opinion just the example simply because I have been respectful regardless of what I think ❤️)

You start your professional career. You start making x amount (above average for your age). Your parents begin asking for help to pay their mortgage which is 2.6k a month but both parents make combined 130-200k yearly.

You have the option to move out because you make enough but don’t because they said it’s cheaper “rent” by helping them out.

Should you be considered or treated as a tenant who is also their child or be under the rules of simply being their child even though you are contributing to the mortgage?
