How did you make the decision to adopt? Our only choices of having a child at this time are those of using a sperm donor or pursuing adoption. Our hearts are torn. We see the advantage and the beauty to both routes. Adoptive mommies - how did you finally arrive at your decision?

Answer

Adoption was always my plan A. We have only prevented pregnancy and never tried to conceive a biological child. My cousins were adopted, as well as my best friend and I just always knew growing up that I didn’t need to create a child in order to love them as part of the family. 
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not rainbows and unicorns. I would advise anyone looking into the adoption process to research adoption-related trauma. That said, I couldn’t imagine our lives without our daughter (through international adoption). We’re currently in the beginning phases of our second adoption.
