Does a late talker mean autism in boys?

My son is 11 months and doesn’t babble consistently and I recently just read coopers story on Pinterest and it’s making me second guess myself... anyone have experience with a late talker

My son hit physical stuff before verbal stuff for a while. Now he is 2 and his vocabulary expands literally every day. Talk to your pediatrician if you are concerned,  but kids all develop a bit differently.

Not necessarily. There are other indicators for autism to be looking for. Making eye contact, smiling, interacting with his environment, etc. Most pediatricians say by 2 years old, based on the child’s development, whether or not they should be concerned about autism.

No. Boys are often slower at being verbal than girls anyway. Yes some children who are autistic have verbal deficits but not every child who is slower to communicate is autistic.

I don’t think so. My oldest who is now 9 didn’t talk until he was two. That kid is a fricking genius and in all higher classes and his reading level is insane. My middle child was the early talker and ironically enough he ended up with ADHD and Dyslexia. What I’m getting at is every kid develops at a different rate so try not to stress to much. If you are really concerned though most states will offer speech or physical therapy after an evaluation. Don’t stress mama

My son does have Autism. He just turned 5 and he has been verbal for a couple of months now

Sometimes it just happens. My step son and my son both were very late talkers. My son turns two this month. He still doesn’t know anywhere near as many words as he should. Neither are autistic or having any learning disabilities. They’re just quiet kids.

Nope. My first was a late talker and I chalked it up to repeat ear infections(he still has hearing problems at 4 years). Now my 15 month old is also a late talker. Both were ahead of the curve with physical milestones, though(youngest walked at 8 months). Boys are just a little different.

At 11 months my little one wasn't babbling much either. And non talking doesn't necessarily mean autism. So don't get yourself worked up. My son could barely say mama and baba, by 13 months and he wouldn't say them all the time. And our pediatrician said that's normal, they'll do that. Now at 20 months he still doesn't talk much, but the little monster is just stubborn!! We've noticed he does for sure know how to talk, he just does it when he chooses to. So we stopped pressuring him. He can say our dogs name, your welcome, dada, daddy, mama, it's good, yes, and I love you. 
But again, he does it on his time. If we try and make him say something he won't. 
So I would just talk to your pediatrician, ultimately you'll know if something is wrong. Our pediatrician tried telling us at 18 months our son needed speech h therapy but I told her to wait 2 months and we will see if it improves. At this point I'm not even worried honestly. Kids learn at their own pace. If I knew something was off and my child actually did need the help then yes I would have jumped on it. But I just knew he was being stubborn about it all along. 
Oh and he babbles and makes other talking noises nonstop!!

Not necessarily. My oldest barely spoke until 2. My middle boy can say 2 words and he’s 2. No autism.
