Rhesus negative blood anyone ?

My blood group is A- and pregnant with potentially a positive blood group baby which means I need an injection to protect the baby anyone had this before. ? I'm slightly worried as my midwife said if mine and baby's blood mixed id try and harm my baby by releasing antibodies!!

I had to get the shot with my first pregnancy around 30 weeks, I think it's pretty common . Don't worry ?

as others have mentioned, it is quite common.  common enough that it's routinely screened for.  you'll get the RhoGAM shot around 28 weeks, then again at delivery. no harm should come to you or your new baby.

I am the same blood type. You will get a rhogam shot. Don't stress everything will be fine.

Wow seems a lot of u have suffered miscarriages, I didn't know this was a common occurrence with that blood group I was only concerned about the injections and complications with labour, I'm nearly 20 weeks pregnant with our first and have not had any misscarages in the past now I'm a little worried that, that's a possibility??

my doc said that I Have ab blood and at 28weeks I have to get a shot. not sure what the shot is but I'm assuming it's the same thing that you are talking about

I went to the hospital when I miscarried specifically for the shot. I'm not sure how early the miscarriages occurred but part of the initial bloodwork of pg is testing for antibodies to various things

I've had 3 miscarriages. I'm AB negative. I feel if I had rhogam shot early on perhaps I wouldn't have miscarried. Need to get some more answers. My doc doesn't seem to want to look any further. Good luck!

I am rhesus negative and I had an ectopic pregnancy in august 2013 and cos my husband wasn't rhesus negative I had to have the antibodies injection as they told me if my baby had the same blood group as my husband even after I lost the baby the blood cells would still remain and attack my blood cells

You will also need Rhogam after any episode of bleeding during pregnancy and after any miscarriages as a preventative measure. I am also A-.  I have had one negative baby and 6 positive babies. =)

It's very common. You will receive Rhogam during your pregnancy as well as after delivery if your babies blood tests positive, if negative then you will not need the second injection.
