Madeleine Clare

Della

She was born 2/7 at 11:37pm. I spent around 20 hours in early labor with contractions at 1 minute, five minutes apart for most of it. However, as I have a severe phobia of needles, it was the plan to go in at 3 minutes apart. Cue us beginning the drive at 9pm to the hospital. We were triaged at 930 where I terrified the nurses because during a contraction I sat up in such a way, I stopped the baby’s heart monitor. Got into the birthing room at 1030. Ended up pushing her out in only 15 minutes. Best part was hearing all the midwives, doctors and nurses come in and then realize how fast things were moving. My midwife said it was like being hit my a car when she checked in on me today and that I’m her 30 years of experience, she’s never had a birth that quick.

Either way she popped out at 5 lbs 14 oz (teeny tiny!) and 20.5 inches long. She’s so curious and loves to snuggle. Spent most of the day doing skin to skin with either me or my husband. Now we are trying to get discharged at midnight so we miss the gigantic snow storm that is supposed to be hitting our city in the early morning.
