When are you piercing baby’s ears?

My doctor said he’d go ahead and pierce her ears at exactly one month check up. But that seems early. When are you doing it ??

Whenever (if ever) she asks and decides she wants them 🤷🏼‍♀️ I think it’s really important to teach consent and body autonomy and I don’t think piercing her body without her permission teaches that.

At two months, after her first set of shots. Her pediatrician also pierces then in office. If once she is older and doesn’t want her ears pierced then she can take them out.

I live in England and here we can do it once they’ve had their first set of immunisations.

I’m not, with my first I got them done at 3 months, she never messed with them until 1 day right before she turned two she threw a fit and ripped them out, now she has scars. So with my second I’m choosing to wait until she asks

Our local piercer will only pierce when the child is old enough to consent to wanting it done. I won’t take her to mall kiosks because they say piercing guns are really bad for their ears. So I’ll go to him around 3 or 4 if she wants them.

Depends on where you will be getting the piercing done. The place I had my oldest daughters done only did 4 months and older, they wanted to make sure baby had her shots. Shes 11 years old now and the earring holes had closed long ago because she was always losing her earrings and pulling at her earrings.
