Toddler sick and his eyes are reddish?

I thought maybe my 2 year old was getting pink eye but it’s not as dark as pink eye and is like both his eyes are just lightly reddish and irritated looking? He just got over basically bronchitis like 2 weeks ago and after the medication they gave him it never completely went away and now last night he got a really high fever for a few hours and he’s back to sounding terribly mucusy! So he’s sounded sick and coughy and mucuosy for 4 weeks!! All they ever prescribe him is amoxicillin and an antihistamine and it only treats the symptoms for a week and then it comes back..don’t know what to do..now his eyes are red.. and I’m exhausted.
