When Did You Decide To Be a SAHM?

Question

Hi moms! I am a SAHM to my almost 9 month old son and while it has its challenges, I absolutely love it and am so glad I decided to step out of my career as a teacher after a decade to focus on him
And my husband. 
I was originally going to go back to teaching last month but changed my mind a few months after he was born. 
I was wondering if any of you changed your mind about returning to work after baby was born or if you knew from pregnancy that you would stay home with your babies?

I knew I wanted to stay home the minute I stopped working and did my maternity leave. After the twelve weeks were up I went back for four weeks and quit. I couldn't stand the fact that someone else would be raising my child. She's almost two and we're expecting our second kiddo any day now! I think I may go back to work once they are both in school.

I worked full time the first year of my sons life. My mom takes care of him while I work so while it’s awesome that I don’t have to take him to daycare or anything, I do kind of feel like she had more part in raising him his first year than I did. I know it’s probably not true but it’s just something I think I’ll always feel guilty about. I went part time a little after he turned 1 and only work a couple days a week now (he’s 3). But I am pregnant with #2 and my husband and I already discussed I won’t be returning to work for awhile after this baby. I don’t want to miss anything and I want to spend all the time I can with the son I already have before he starts school. ❤️

The very day I became pregnant with my first. We have three now and I’m so glad/fortunate to be able to stay home with them.

Yes I went back at 8 weeks pp and ended up leaving my job permanently when my son was 5 months old. He’s now 21 months old and I’m due in 3 months with our second. Don’t regret it one bit. I will return once they’re both in preschool/ school.

I had thought about it before even getting pregnant but, as soon as he was born I knew there was no way I could hand him over to anyone while I worked. 
My oldest is almost 2.5 now and I have 16 month twins and another on the way! No plans to go back to work until they are at least school age. Hoping to homeschool at least a few years. 
I love being home with them so much and even leaving for a few hours to run errands or on a date with my hubby feels like an eternity until I get back to them.

Prior to giving birth I worked in the school system as well but I chose to not return so I could raise my little guy. When I was thinking about whether or not I wanted to return I kept telling myself I’ve worked with other children and youth for years it’s okay to take a break and be with my own for now. I think he was about 9-10 months when I spent a lot of time thinking about it and discussing my options with people around me. My work was supportive of my decision and I have loved being with my little guy every day. There are moments when it’s challenging which is to be expected but we have another one on the way. I think if you can afford it with 1 income it’s worth trying out. If it’s not for you then you can find another position.

I knew I wanted to be a SAHM the moment I knew I was pregnant. I wanted to be my children’s everything, wanted to exclusively breastfeed, wanted to co sleep and share a bedroom, just so many reasons for me to be home full time than to work outside of the home. I’m very fortunate to be a stay at home mom, it hasn’t been easy, and I’ve had to sacrifice a lot, but for my babies it’s worth it. I can get an outside job when they’re grown and don’t need me full time anymore. Nothing is more important to me in this life than doing my best to make sure my kids turn out to be as healthy, happy, and emotionally stable as possible, and in my opinion if I had an outside job those odds would be bleak.

I was leaning toward staying at home when I was pregnant with my first but I wasn't 100% sure so I didn't quit my job until after my maternity leave was over. I became sure once that baby was in my arms. It's been 8 years and I still love being a sahm.

I'm not a mom yet *we have an angel baby* but I have ALWAYS wanted to be a SAHM. I told my fiancé and he thinks it's a great idea. I can write and paint at home, and he will get a good paying job. I also want to unschool my kids which involves me being at home. My fiancé loves the idea as well.
