Some advice on pain management please
I’m currently 37 weeks and I’m starting to rethink my pain management choices for when I go into labour.
My entire pregnancy I’ve been wanting to do a natural birth without pain medication or an epidural. I’ve been so careful with this pregnancy to not take any medications, I’ve had the flu and colds and I’ve taken nothing for them because I didn’t want anything to affect the baby.
This pregnancy really hasn’t been easy for me. I’ve had SPD (PGP) since the 2nd trimester and it’s been especially brutal without pain medication. And now that baby has dropped and is constantly bumping into my nerves I’m starting to lose it.
I’m really starting to question whether or not I should get an epidural and try to save myself some pain. But just thinking about doing that makes me feel really defeated, I’ve been working so hard to stay medication and drug free during pregnancy and I feel like it’s all for nothing if I do get an epidural.
I’m also getting my GBS test results back in a 2 days and if it’s positive I’d have to take antibiotics anyways. Maybe if it’s positive I’ll get an epidural but if I test negative I won’t? I really just don’t know anymore, maybe it’s nerves because I’m so close to having my baby? Anyone else starting to rethink their pain management?
