I feel like I did something wrong

So me and my boyfriend of a year and 7 months, have decided to take a break, yet still hang out and have sex every once in a while. HE wants to take this break because we’ve done nothing but argue the last few months and he and I both know he hasn’t treated me the way I should be treated. So I told him I would give him time and space to fix himself and be better. Because that’s what he wanted. However, I started talking to this new guy. I strictly just wanted to be friends. Well, we hung out tonight, & had sex. & now I’m in a huge mess mentally 🤦🏻‍♀️and I don’t know what to do.
