Ok so i need advise

ME and my ex broke up about 10 months ago and we started talking a couple days ago. I've never stopped loving him, basically I'm not over him. I told him and he said " i don't know what to say" i understand that and then he said " i hated breaking up with you"

I didn't know what to say. In a way i want to get back with him but i don't at the same time. My reasoning for thag is, if it didn't work out the first time then it wouldn't work for the second time either. We've stopped talking now. I don't know what to do. I've tried so hard to get over him. I just can't😭
