It hurts to finger myself

Is it normal that it hurts to put a finger in my vag or is there something wrong with it? My boyfriend tries to finger me but never gets very far because it’s just so sensitive and everything hurts! One time he tried just moving his finger around inside and around my vagina in all different ways to figure out where hurts the most and maybe find any spots that actually feel good, so he would know where and where not to touch, but everything he tried just hurt so bad I had to get him to stop. My friend told me there’s something similar to erectile dysfunction but in girls- where it hurts to put anything in your vagina and I hope I don’t have that 😶 Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong?
