Tips for introducing baby to dogs?

We have 3 large dogs who get very excited! They’ll calm down once you’re calm. They’ve been around some children but not a lot at all and no babies. I obviously won’t be leaving her around them unattended and won’t let them get all up in her face. I’m 35 weeks almost so I’ve got about 5 weeks to prepare. Any tips?

As the other comment said, introduce baby’s smell first before introducing baby. 
Making sure they get some exercise first is another great idea. 
Have the dogs in a room or in the backyard or something before you come in the house with baby. Get the baby settled somewhere then go say hello to your dogs without baby - they will be excited to see you. 
Once the calm a bit bring them one at a time to meet baby. Start with a short introduction for each dog individually and work your way up to more and more interaction as you see fit.

Have whoever is taking care of them while your in the hospital bring a blanket home that smells like baby!! I have two pits that are the same way and weren't really around kids before my daughter was born. The day we came home my mom took them to run in the morning so they were calmer than usual, and we left our daughter in her car seat for the initial meet. They still got excited but seemed to understand they had to be very careful with her. Haven't had any issues since!!

I agree with everyone else! We initially brought in her hat before bringing her inside so he could smell it. The goal we tried to establish is that the scent was our property. He could smell it but could not take the hat as his own. He’s never done more than snuff and gentle lick the baby. Good luck!! So glad your lo has three best friends already!

I agree with all the above. We have a particularly crazy corgi puppy, and we were terrified of how he would be with the baby. We did what everyone else said. Also oh, it is a huge help to have the dog know basic tricks to follow commands, sit and lay down for example. Keep high-reward treats around and praise and treat when the dog is come near the baby. I also recommend giving the dog attention when the baby is asleep and awake so they don't feel like the baby is taking away from their attention to. I took some getting used to but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised.
