Is BIPOC a necessary term?

BIPOC stands for black, indigenous, people of color. The term exists because some folks feel as though they don't fall under the term people of color as is. It's supposed to replace POC. 
What are your thoughts?

It’s necessary if the people who use it think it is necessary. If that’s what the general consensus is then I will use the term.

I've never heard this. However, if that's what the people this would apply to would prefer, I'd obviously respect that and stop saying just POC.

Why would anyone not be respectful and just use the preferred acronym?

As a white woman I don't have a say in what is necessary or not. I'll just follow the lead of what POC want the terminology to be. Just like I do as a cishet ally of the LGBTQ+ community. I try to keep up the terms as much as I can, but I don't try to change or give an opinion on the terms.

I’m cringing here, this is completely unnecessary. I’m a person that is mixed, and I don;t think I need to be categorized and labeled more than I already am.

I always find it weird that people say POC or Person of Colour. Where I'm from, calling someone coloured is considered politically incorrect, even offensive.
Here, we just say the persons skin color: black, white, brown, yellow etc - or their origin, if known.

Why is POC being replaced by something new? I honestly can’t keep up anymore with the right phrasing because it’s constantly changing

Ok let me tweak this a little.
BIPOC is NOT supposed to *replace* POC. It's just another specifier 
-Like NBPOC is "non-black people of color" 
These were made because POC does not always refer to just Black people. And Black is not usually synonymous with Indigenous.
Both BIPOC and NBPOC can be used interchangeably with POC, but it adds another layer of depth and clarity to a specific situation/explanation/experience.
